Dressage and jumping is a highly skilled form of riding performed in exhibition and competition, as well as an "art" sometimes pursued solely for the sake of mastery. Dressage and jumping is the highest form of expression of horse training where the horse and rider are expected to perform from memory a series of predetermined movements.
Florida Cypress wood was first burnt (charred) to give this piece a blackened finish and making it impervious to the elements. The carving goes through the char revealing burnt umber and sepia tones to further enhance the image. It measurers approximately 24"x18" and weighs approximately 9 lbs.
